HOUSE PARTY
COLOUR-IN
Scottish clubbers have never had it so good, and it’s about to get even better. Colours Live In The Capital is set to take house music into a new dimension with a massive one-off party at lngliston lining up the country’s finest DJs.
Colours boss Jim Mckay and partner Ricky Magowan have a long and successful history in Scottish clubland, but are perhaps best known for their Streetrave parties at Prestwick airport where they brought together house and rave music, and artists as diverse as The Prodigy and M People.
The Colours bash is their most ambitious project to date with a six- figure sum being spent working the popular fortnightly Edinburgh club up to a twelve-hour dance-music marathon with Pete Tong, Sasha, Carl Cox, John Digweed and BT blasting it out over a 50k sound system.
Each DJ will perform a two-hour set with the added attraction of Carl Cox’s slot being broadcast on Radio One’s Essential Mix show the following week.
Carl Cox: essential
And when the heat of the dancefloor gets too much, clubbers can chill out in a separate area with Colours’ resident DJs punting lighter house sounds, five bars, a restaurant ar, an Internet cafe and Sega consoles.
Dance events on this scale are typically associated with the now- legendary Rezerection which also takes place at lngliston, but McKay is
keen to distance himself from the rave
tag. ‘What we’re trying to do is take house music out of small clubs and present it on a totally different scale.’ (Jim Byers).
Colours Live In The Capital takes place at lngliston, Sat 11 May. For
ticket information call 01292 267305.
