St Kilda Explored Until 25 Aug 1996. A fascinating look at the island of St Kilda. which was evacuated in 1930. exploring the natural and cultural world of both the land and its inhabitants.

Freedom Until 21 Jan 1996. Exploring the link between the political and the aesthetic. this powerful exhibition of painting. sculpture. photography and video by fifteen contemporary artists will serve as the focal point for Amnesty lntemational's four-month Freedom Festival in Glasgow.

Picasso Prints Until 7.1an 1996. Considered to be one of the artist‘s rrrost important graphic productions. this exhibition of 31 prints of animals. birds. insects and wildlife is on tour from its usual home at London‘s South Bank Centre.

Helen Keller Awards Tue 5—12 Dec. Entries to this annual competition can be in any art medium. but all works must explore issues of deaf blindness.

The Persistence 0i Painting Until 7 Dec. Despite modern technology and the emergence of a multitude of mediums. for most people the word art is still synonymous with painting. Luckily it's an art forrn which is constantly able to reinvent itself. and this exhibition is no exception. featuring the work of seven artists all striving for an alternative way to paint. Byrne is considered to be one of Scotland’s most outstanding contemporary painters. This new exhibition features many previously unseen works. including a recently completed portrait of The Beatles.

James Mcllaught Until 23 Dec. McNaught's paintings deal primarily with fantasy worlds. and have been used to illustrate numerous magazines and novels worldwide. Also on show. paintings by Russian artist Vladimir Gooss influenced by folk tales. myths. nature and early 20th century Russian art.
