Central Funds
Conferences and Seminars
Grants to support and enable attendance at conferences and seminars which address contemporary issues in and for the arts. Applications considered throughout the year.
Consultancies and Research
Grants to enable arts organisations to commission consultancy studies. feasibility studies, practical research and to local authorities in commissioning arts plans.
Applications considered throughout the year.
Marketing
The purpose of the fund is to develop a more strategic approach to marketing Within arts organisations through support for research and development, staff training in marketing and the development of marketing plans.

Training in Arts Management
Grants to indiVIduals working in the arts towards attendance at short courses in arts management and grants to organisations for in~house training in equal opportunities and customer care.

Crafts
Awards for Individual Development
Assistance to makers to continue the development of their artistic, technical and busmess skills and to other appropriate indIVIduals who present crafts to develop their knowledge of contemporary crafts. Closing date: 15 December 1995.
Start-up Grants
ASSIstance to new craftspeople who exhibit a level of creatiVity and skill, and who have a viable development plan, to establish themselves as makers in Scotland.
Closing Date: 15 December 1995.
Literature
Bursaries for Writers and Translators Bursaries to enable published Scottish-based writers of fiction, poetry and literary non-fiction and translators to devote more time to writing and translating. Closing date: 22 December 1995.
Travel and Research Grants for Writers and Translators
Grants to support published Scottish-based writers of fiction, poetry and literary non-fiction and translators, who require to undertake research, usually for a book.
Closing date: 5 January 1996.
SAC/HarperCollins Short Story Volume 1997
An annual volume of original short stories by Scottish writers of writers resident in Scotland, published in conjunction with HarperCollins Publishers.
Entries to SAC by 30 June 1996.
Music
Music Commission Fee Subsidy
As5istance to organisations, ensembles or indiViduals With the cost of commission fees for original compositions during 1996/97. Closing date: 8 January 1996.
Visual Arts: Individuals
Small Assistance Grants to Individual Artists
Grants of up to £750 to assist artists With the smaller, more imme- diate costs involved in creating and presenting their work. Closing dates: 29 November 1995 and 31 January 1996.
Visual Arts:
Orgam'sa tions/ Groups Exhibitions and Projects
Grants to organisations to encourage and support innovative exhibi- tLons and other Visual proiects through support for research fees, proiect costs and educational events.
Closing date: 1 January 1996.
Hiring Touring Exhibitions Grants to encourage the wider circulation of touring exhibitions in Scotland and to aSSist galleries in presenting more ambitious programmes of temporary exhibitions through support for hire fees, and transport and travel costs. Closing date: 1 January 1996.
Infrastructure
Grants to develop the infrastructure for the exhibition of Visual arts in Scotland through support for new Visual arts posts and the improvement of facilities for the display of temporary exhibitions in Scannd. Applications for improvements may be considered throughout the year.
Travel and Training Grants
Grants to assist professionals working in the Visual arts to travel for specific purposes related to their work. Applications considered throughout the year.
