The life of a quantity surveyor is one of late nights, excessive drinking, mixing with the stars and entertaining thousands of people every weekend. That is if said quantity surveyor is DJ Zammo.
Scotland’s hardest working DJ constantly tears up the M80 and the M8, venue bound with a chocca box of choice choons to play at some of Scotland’s busiest nights: Stripped every other Friday at La Belle Angele in Edinburgh, Wildlife in Perth, and his monthly extravaganza at the Rhumba Club in Arbroath. Working a full professional week surveying assorted quantities and then launching into punishing DJing duties would be enough for most, but Zammo still has more. He now works for Stress Records, doing remixes for them under the name Coyote (Chris and James’ Calm Down and Tune In) and putting out tracks where he takes full production credit (Jekyll and Hyde, Troy and the forthcoming Sound of Rhumba).

family. His DJing and production work is up for it, no messing about party house cutting it on the dancefloor big time. Curiously, he puts this success down to the day job. ‘I’m just the same as the people who work all week,’ says Zammo speaking from his office, taking time off from land evaluation. ‘When the weekend comes you go out for the release. I can imagine how other DJs who sit at home all day listening to records go for the deeper sound, but when I go out to the clubs at the end of the week it’s to enjoy myself as much as the people who come through the door paying.’
