I NATIONAL BOG DAY Sun 30. Langland Moss at Calderglen Country Park East Kilbride (013552 36644) Nothing to with the drains. but everything to do with the drainage and no tittering at the back there please. Langland Moss is a raised bog. created over the years as the vegetation in a pond accumulates and absorbs most of the pond water. The base of the vegetation dies off and decomposes to form peat while the top layer continues to grow upwards so that over centuries the bog becomes raised. The problem is that drainage and tree planting dries out the bogs. which are sites of vital areas of wild life. Peat cutting for your garden heather bed doesn't help much either.
