I Suzanne Bonnar Queen‘s Hall. Clerk Street. 668 2019. 8.30pm. £8.50. £7 (£4). I suspect singer Suzanne Bonnar's much- publicised on-screen reunion with her father served as something of a distraction from her music. but she has bounced back in highly convincing fashion of late. and this tour will give her an ideal opportunity to consolidate that progress on Scotland's majorjazz stages. Her excellent band features pianist Brian Kellock. Phil Bancroft on saxophone. Kenny Ellis on bass. and drummer Mike Bradley. while the concerts will also feature a considerable extra bonus in the shape of a rare solo set from pianist David Ilewton. who is better known for his association with another Scottish singer. Carol Kidd. but is also a superbly inventive performer when left to his own devices.

I Clusone Trio BBC Studios. Queen Street. 668 2019. 8pm. £7.50 (£4). Cellist Ernst Reijseger. expatriate American reeds player Michael Moore. and drummer Han Bennink make up one of the most irreverently inventive musical combinations currently extant. and their previous visits to Scotland have been genuinely memorable affairs. Not to be missed.
