Three storytelling troubadours of varying vintage offer a slice of their life. Tom Robinson is the best known. but for our money affable Irishman Andy White takes the biscuit with his often witty dissection of life and love in Belfast.

A1 Larsen is a member of Olympian Pavementesque band Some Velvet Sidewalk. much admired by The Pastels (who cover their song ‘Boardwalkin” on their new single) and Teenage Fanclub. who is embarking on an alleged cultural exchange between Glasgow and Olympia. This intimate gig is part of his schedule while on his three- month sojourn in Scottish parts.

Glue continue to post their punk-influenced bulletins. Yummyfur are angular punk pop and The Blisters play self-styled ‘cocktail music in a Molotov style’.

Counting Crows are the latest radio-friendly roots rock sensation to become an overnight success in America - quite some achievement when you think how large the States are. Cracker formed from the remnants of cult US weirdo pop outfit Camper Van Beethoven and nowadays make more straightforward melodic grunge with the occasional country inflection.
