I ROYAL VISIT Tue 5—Fri 8. The state visit of the King and Queen of Norway to Scotland is the first not to venture south of the border since the Swedish monarchs were here in 1972. As then. the royals are staying down at Holyrood Palace with the Queen. There are two major flag-waving opportunities for Hello! readers and other monarchists. On Tue 5. the Royal Couple will leave Charlotte Square at 12.15pm in an open carriage procession with 120 mounted soldiers to go to Holyrood Palace via Princes Street. North Bridge and down the Royal Mile. On Wednesday they go for at Civic Lunch. travelling back along the satne route to arrive at the Assembly Rooms at 12.30pm.
I TOWN LOCH OPEN WATER-SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS Sat 2/Sun 3. 9.30am—4.3()pm. Scottish Water Ski Centre. Town Loch. Townhill. Dunfermline. 0383 620123. Spectators free. Some 30 water skiers. including the pick of the Scottish crop and most of the good ones from England descend on the Town Loch this weekend to compete in three disciplines. After the slalom. there's the trick event. in which competitors have just twenty seconds to do as many somersaults. back flips. body roles. toe tricks and turns as they can. The competition finishes off on thejumps. which are judged for distance. rather than style. If it all seems remarkably easy and you want a go. the centre is open daily frorn 10am to dusk. I LIVING HISTORY WITH THE WHITE COCKADE SOCIETY Sun 10. noon—3pm. Killiecrankie. three miles north of Pitlochry on the 88079 (old A9). The White Cockade Society wil be out in force at this National Trust for Scotland property. The Battle of Killiecrankie saw the first shots fired for the Jacobite cause in 1689. ()ne of the routed government soldiers is said to have made a spectacular jump across the river at Soldier's Leap
(strangely enough). This famous beauty spot with Vistor's Centre is open daily. 9.30am—6pm.

Go on. live that childhood dream! I GHOST WALKS Glasgow: There are two goulish walks in Glasgow: a ghost tour and a murder tour. The ghost tour with costumed guide leaves the Tron Theatre Bar. Chisholm Street at 8pm on Wed. Fri and Sun. For £5 you get gore-filled ghastly and ghostly tales. The tnurder tour leaves the Captain's Rest. Great Western Road. I POWER BOAT SCOTTISH GRAND PHIX Fri 8—Sun 10 Various venues around Oundee, but mostly on the Tay. The big event of the powerboat world comes to Oundee tor the weekend. This is formula one on the water, with huge pizzle-throbbing boats — only just large enough to tit on the back of an artic — hacking up and down the Tay at speeds up to 140mph. The boats are paraded round Oundee city centre on Fri 8 on 6pm. The practice sessions and time trials take place on a 1km course between the road and rail bridges on Sat 9, from 3.15pm (best viewing from Riverside Drive). On Sun 10 the race itself takes place starting at 3.15pm. Five laps from the start point between the two bridges and heading out past Buddon Hess to the Aberray Bouy. Viewing from the Tay Road Bridge, Riverside and File. Traiiic is expected to be heavy, with severe parking restrictions, so go by public transport it you can.
