The largest raft race in the UK is now in its fifteenth year and is expected to attract a record 150 rafts with total crews of 1500. The race starts from the New Inn Car Park. Ellon just after 2pm and finishes at the Logie Buchan Bridge. Rafts of all shapes and sizes take part. from monsters created using CAD by the design teams of off-shore oil companies to schoolkids‘ rafts made from a couple of rubber tyres lashed together with binder twine. Stalls open from 10am. with live music and entertainments at the Ellon start area from 1 lam.

Summer may officially be here. but there‘s still record amounts of snow on sotne of the slopes which is likely to hold unless the weather turns wet. If you do decide to have a go. you are likely to have the piste pretty much to yourself. so don‘t wax those skis and get out the golfing trousersjust yet!
