A reasonable sized funfair is all that remains of this ancient i'eeing fair. There’s always lots going on at the Country Park. both on the loch - with watery things to do and equipment for hire — and around the park itself.
I BLDCHAIRN CAR DDDT SALE Sundays. 10am—3pm. Blochairn Fruit Market. Blochairn Road. Glasgow. Free. Quarter ofa million visitors have visited this phenomenally successful fair and car boot sale since it started last October. With over 230 car boots every Sunday. this is an excellent venue for a happy morning‘s bargain hunting.
I KELDURN CASTLE AND COUNTRY CENTRE Daily. 10am—6pm. Kelburn Castle. South Offices. Fairley. £3 (£1.50). 0475 568685. Set in the Kel Burn Glen. the castle is the family home of the Earls ofGlasgow and is still lived in after eight centuries. Besides the Glen. visitors have the opportunity to visit the riding centre. go on the adventure and assault courses and the stockade and play in the soft play room. Also museum. ranger centre and licensed cafe.

The Spring is sprung. The sun is ris. I wonder where the skiers is? Ogden Nash would be surprised to find the skiers still up on the pistes of Scotland — high winds permitting. You might be basking in the daffodil-clad dells of the Central Belt. but up north the snow is still falling. All resorts report firm. thick snow which is still holding within the fences. although the wind has been blowing some of the loose snow off and the off-piste skiing is somewhat curtailed. So take a chance and get up there!
I Ski Clubs For the social life and post- piste piss-ups. local ski-clubs can't be beat. They also organise mini-buses to slopes on most weekends and can put you in touch with other people who might want to car share.
