I Zoe Alambicum Ensemble Centre for Contemporary Arts. 350 Sauchiehall Street. 332 7521. 7.30pm. £6 (£2.50). This collaborative experimental group is the brainchild ofcomposer Cluny Strachan and filmmaker Timothy Copsey. Formed in 1989. the Ensemble has already earned a reputation for producing the unexpected in their multi-media creations. Part of the Sound City event.

Eliso Virsaladze is the soloist in Liszt‘s Piano Concerto No I , and Weller completes the programme on
safe ground with Beethoven’s Symphony No 4.

A bold operatic double bill from Glasgow Grand Opera. with Henry Purcell's Dido of 1689 paired with the rather less familiar L'Ommlo, an opera by Franco Leoni which dates from 1905. A violent but romantic tale. in a Puccini- esque vein apparently. it is set in the decidedly underused operatic milieu of San Francisco‘s Chinatown. This is the Scottish premiere of the latter work; both will be sung in English. Other dates: Mon ll—Sat 16. with an additional matinee on Sat 16 (2.15pm).
