Union by Stephen Birrell at the Mercat House Gallery

Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and now home to archive material on education in Scotland from 1872 onwards. Reconstructed classrooms give a flavour of Victorian. Edwardian. Second World War and 1960s schooldays.
Patterns of Childhood Until 27 Feb. Forty samples from the Glasgow Museums collection plus some recent examples from this century.
School Tapestries Until 27 Feb. Ten examples inspired by Quaker tapestries which have been made by local schools. Art Exhibition tor Shelter Until 25 Feb. Fifty artists such as Elizabeth Blackadder and John Houston have donated a piece of
work.

The Emigration Project Sat 19 Feb-26 Mar. An intriguing exhibition by Amanda McKittn'ck and members of a women’s group from Castlemilk. in which a trunk of clothes is used to convey a personalised history of emigration. The clothes are
printed with photographic images and embroidered texts which relate to stories about emigration gleaned from stories told by participants.
Sounding the Depths Until Sat 12 Feb. An installation by two Irish artists. Pauline Cummins and Louise Walsh. which celebrates change. Using photography.
video and sound. the work aims to I visualise emotional development using the
two artists in turn as model and photographer.
