Perhaps high-level gigs are so thin on the ground. because everyone knows that the iguana man is in town and other bands either can’t compete or want to see him play themselves. Still just about manages to convince with his snake-hipped antics and the maximum rock ’n' roll numbers stand the test of time. See preview for Molly Half Head. I The Time Frequency Mayfair. Sauchiehall Street. 332 3872. 6.30pm. £15. A relatively pub-sized gig for the massively popular TTF. who‘ve finally managed to convince the whole of Britain of the worthiness of their rave-pop. if the protracted chart sojourn of their last EP was any barometer. Entry is by ‘registration card’ — obtain one in advance in person or by post from the Mayfair — and then produce the card on the night with the entry fee. An underrated live band. as their recent self- financed live album hinted at. the Mackenzies should be checked out by all rock-loving visitors to Edinburgh who haven't caught the band before.
