the underlying drug culture theme. would stray into American soap opera territory.

Mario (aspiring Latino yuppie, trying to forget his roots) gets talking to Liza (lonesome. confused thirtysomething with daughter) and her boyfriend Vince (brutish. loud, objectionable. dope- dealing man's man) in a bar. Together they head back to Vince's filthy abode and are introduced to his cancer-ridden wife. Elena.

The action starts here. with the plot taking some bizarre twists and turns. ending up going nowhere in particular. Solid performances throughout. with Consuelo Allen (Elena) easily stealing the show in this interesting. though hardly riveting. show. (Joe Lampard)

Under Smith’s sensitive and inventive direction, the play perfectly captures the atmosphere of 30s London, where Laura and Alec are morally obliged to hurt nobody but themselves; where torrents of passion must be kept hidden under a veneer of social niceness. Powerful and moving theatre. (Gabe Stewart) I Still lite (Fringe) National Student Theatre Company, C. Over-seas House (Venue I9), 225
