I To Give Them Light: The Legacy of Roman Vishnlac. Ellie and Marion Wiesel. In the early 1930s Roman Vishniac was commissioned to travel Eastern Europe documenting the traditional life of Jewish people in an attempt to raise money for and world awareness of the plight of communities plagued by growing anti-semitism. Tragically. the world was slow to catch on. These detailed. fascinating black and white images. showing families at home. at work and studying and became a final testament to a way life that was to be extinguished forever.

William Strang Until 25 Apr. Large collection of landscapes. biblical and literary illustrations and scenes of 19th and early 20th century life by the Dumbanon artist who revived interest in etching at the turn of the century.
Alan Davie: II Mago Until 4 Apr. Two works by the internationally renowned artist. to complement the Niki de Saint Phalle retrospective at the McLellan Galleries. Davie painted these works after his collaboration with the artist in 1987. Gavin Evans: dis. A Collaborative Project Until Sun 14 Mar. Evans uses the latest digital paintbox technology in a series of photographs exploring the use of information in society. Text by Arthur Miller. Wole Soymka. Joseph Brodsky and others accompany the images. Printing with Wood Until 25 Apr. Woodcuts from the last five centuries and drawn from several European countries — centring particularly on the pioneering work of 20th century illustrators. including examples by Willie Rodger and Stephen Campbell.
The lslay and Jura Spiral Prolect Until Sun 21 Mar. Scul‘.’tor George Wyllie and Glasgow School of Art student John Marshall masterminded this project to take an out into rural areas. working with local schoolchildren and mostly local materials. The 500m-long result is on show now.
