The full Moon actually begins to slip into the Earth’s shadow at 10pm when, it you loolr through a telescope or binoculars, you'll be able to see the shadow leaping lrom craterto crater across the surlace oi the moon.

The moon never actually blacks out, but takes on a characteristic reddish hue because 01 the atmosphere. While you're waiting, have a loolr lorthe Gemlnlds meteor shower which will just be starting up. Don’t expect too many meteors tonight, as maximum activity will occur on Sun 13 when they appear at over 70 an hour, but one should appear every ten minutes or so.
