The National Gallery of Scotland houses a major collection of European art ranging from c1300 to c1900. The successful ap licant will be expected to work primarily in the fie d of British paintings (particularly Scottish), and will be expected to have or acquire a working knowledge of related prints and drawings and sculpture.

Applicants should have a good Honours Degree and/

or significant experience.

Salary: Curator E £13,449-L22,669; Curator D £15,929-L28,687; Unified Grade 7 £25,831-£34,469.

REGISTRAR

The National Galleries of Scotland, comprising the National Gallery of Scotland, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery and the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, contain the most distinguished collections of paintings outside London.

Applications are invited for the post of Registrar, to run an important central department serving all three Galleries.

The Registrar's Department deals with the following areas of the Galleries' work:

-I.oans in and out of the Galleries for temporary exhibitions or long term display.

-Documentation of the collections; in particular a major automation project.

Applicants should have a degree and/or significant experience of relevant museum work, especially in the area of collections management. Competence in the use of micro-computer applications, including data-base management and word-processing is required. A reasonable workingeknowledge of at least

one European language would an advantage.

The post is graded at UG7 with salary in the scale of £25,831 rising to £34,469.
