Wednesday 25
EUROPEAN CUP QUARTER-FINAL
I Rangers v Marseilles lbrox Stadium, Glasgow. 7.30pm. Rangers open their assault on the league qualifying section, a lucrative if long-winded way of deciding the finalists. Marseilles were unlucky not to win the trophy last year, losing out on penalties to an unambitious Red Star Belgrade side in the final. The suspicion is that with Papin sold to AC Milan, and behind-the-scenes disputes, they are a far less daunting prospect this season. A full-strength Rangers side , with the crowd behind them, could pull off a useful victory.
