BEAT
UPDATE
Alastair Mabbott from The List reviews this week’s BACARDI Beat Dance Chart.
Home-grown singles are well represented in the latest BACARDI Beat Dance Chart. The Nightcrawiers Ioilow up their ‘Living Inside A Dream’ single with ‘Push The Feeling Out’ -the highest entry at No 9- and there are two releases irom the exciting Glasgow indie 23rd Precinct. The Housey Ilamenco oi Gypsy’s ‘I Trance You’ on that label is up two places at No 6. Gypsy, by another name, is Graham Drlnnon, who was the engineer Ior
Havanna's ‘Shitt’ (itseII up two places at No 15).
But It's just as good to welcome to the chart ‘People Everyday’, Arrested Development’s crafty updating at one oi Sly Stone’s most inlectious grooves, at No 16. Arrested Development haven’t put a toot wrong since they announced their presence with ‘Tennessee’, and look set to be one or the bands at the 90s. Gary Clail’s presence on any chart is a line thing, and the maestro oi the Tackhead Sound System has nudged Into the bottom end with another beeiy track, ‘Who Pays The Piper' (N019).
Sunscreem’s ‘Periect Motion’, still deservedly reigns supreme In the chart's pole position, but how long will it staythere, with Bizarre Inc's ‘I’m Gonna Get You’ sneaking up behind (No 3 last time, No 2 this)? Bizarre Inc were responsible Ior one of last year’s top dance singles in ‘Playing With Knives’, and, what with the vocals 01 Angie Brown, an especially groovesome 12in mix by Todd Terry and the release or their debut LP, it's my guess ‘I'm Gonna Get You' will continue to thrive.
We’ll know in a iortnight. Until then, ABOGANZAI
