It‘s always a perverse delight to see the completely barking Nyah Fearties furiously churning out their disturbing take on folk music. Could age possibly have mellowed them? Forkeye release their debut EP at the start ofNovember. and it‘s bound to be a very heavy. discomforting slab of sound judging from their recent live shows. Archbishop Kebab. whose cross-cultural collisions work just about often enough to make it worthwhile. must be about due for another record too.

For such an intrinsically repetitive sound. there‘s going to be a lot to take in tonight.

Landfall go for the melodic grunge side of things too. despite coming from Glasgow.

An opportune time for the newly-cleaned-up Scott-Heron to make his British re-appearance. what with him being cited as a primary influence on The DiSposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy (listen to the Disposables track ‘Music And Politics‘ to see how much of an impression he made on them). Even when his career was sliding downhill in the 805. Scott-Heron put on some excellent shows in Scotland. Hopefully, his blend of funk. jazz. rap and social commentary will find enthusiastic record company support again.
