I The Paradox Club at Calton Studios. 10.30pm—5am. Members 515’ non-members £6. Cubik DJs Davie. Brian and Kelly. join up with Ross to presentan increasingly popular night which thankfully avoids relying on Techno to pull in the punters. Look out forthe chill-out room upstairs.

I Pure at The Venue. llpm—4am. Members and guests only. Edinburgh's most popular (and best) hardcore dance club. Always busy and always happening. Look out for occasional PAs.

I The Rave Cave. llpm—4am. As the name suggests it’s Techno and rave for hyped-up young clubbers.

I Tribal Funktion at Moray House Students Union. 1 1pm-4am. £31£2.50. New weekly club opening 17 Jan with an eclectic mixture of dance sounds including rap. groove. acid jazz and dub.

I Twitch at (‘hambers Street Student L'nion. Spur—1am. £1. 24Janonly. ()ne-off specialising in the weirder end of the dance market Nine lnch Nails. that sort of thing. If it proves popular it may even become a regular event. Twitch is also open to non-students.

I Red Hot Pepper Club 10pm—4am. £2.50 before 11.30pm/£3.50after.

I The Solution 8.30pm—4am. With a restaurant. three cocktail bars. cabaret and live music. The Solution provides the more mature clubbers (over 25s) with a relaxed venue for late-night socialising.

I Age Concern For those too young to club legally. hope is at hand in the shape of liclipse. Edinburgh‘s Music Box plays host to the first liclipsc event on 19Jan and if this is successful the club will become a regular event. See listings for details.

IThe Vaults Progress continues apace at the underground lidinburgh venue. Building work on initial rooms is complete and although the venue will not open to the public on a regular basis until the end of March. a seriesof one-offs throughout February and March should whet the appetites ofthe capital'sclubgoers. Details are sketchy but expect something from those behind Pure (though probably not under that name) including an appearance from an as-yet un-named liuropean act. Also Ice and livol plan one-offs (again. using different names) with Evol hoping to attract a well-known indie band. ITlte Dungeon Continuing the subterranean theme. a new club opens at the Edinburgh Dungeon on 31 Jan.
