PREMIER LEAGUE
I Airdrie V Celtic Broomfield, Airdrie. 3pm. No longer in Europe. but looking increasingly stylish at home. Brady and the lads could still figure in the final shake-up at the end ofthe season. lfthey are to be there, they must take maximum points from this calibre ofopposition.
I Dundee UId V Hearts Tannadice Park, Tannadice Street, Dundee. 3pm. Pace-setters Hearts with a tough match in prospect.

glorious season (considering all that went on in the summer) continues to put the cynics in their place. lfthey can win today, it may shut them up for good.

; could give Walter's men a chance to pull
away at the top.

While the ditierences between the
l Formula One motor racing
championship and its distant cousin,
the World Rallying Championship, are
manilold, this year one is also struck by
the similarities. As Ayrton Senna
3 (1990’s Formula One champion)
i stormed to a commanding lead in his
event, so Carlos Sainz, last year’s
9 rallying champion, also seemed
unassailable alter the first live races. But as Senna was challenged by
Nigel Mansell, so Sainz tound 1986 and
1988’s world champion, Juha
Kankkunen, breathing down his neck.
. Sainz has recently retired lrom his
3 home championship round in Spain
5 and his Toyota (which seemed
invincible last year) now looks
troublesome. Kankkunen’s Lancia, on
the other hand, has tailed to get him home in only one race and his team
i leads the constructors' championship.
' Juha Kankkunen'sLancia in Die dirt.
However, the Lombard RAG, the last rally at the championship and generally acknowledged to be the toughest, was won at a stroll by Sainz in 1990. This year, the rally is reluming to the Forest ol Kieider lor the tirst time in many years and should provide a good deal at excitement; although not the perils oi the past when the poorly maintained roads gave the area a mythological reputation. The routes have been improved but spectators can still expect some excitement near the tinish oi stage 26 where a hairpin bend awaits to catch those trying to save a iew tenths oi a second. (Philip Parr)
