This issue we spotlight the current favourite tracks of DJ Jon K from the Oja Club in Glasgow, one of the city's first African clubs (see listings).

1. eoyoyo Boys: Back In Town. The

band were inspirational in Paul Simon making his Graceland album. This track is the best there is In South African Township jive.

Tito Puente: Timbalito. What makes this man a giant in the field of salsa is the way he oan turn a simple melody into an elaborate arrangement oi brass and percussion and yet never lose the basic appeal.

4. San Fan Thomas: African Typtc (Collection). This track has the

l enduring qualities to make it, in my

! estimation, the best contemporary African dance track and it will keep San Fan Thomas‘ name going for a long time to come.

l Bohemia

IMPORTED BEER

I LagerWinnerThis issue‘s lucky recipient of a crate of Bohemia Mexican beer is S. ilynd of Scotland Street. Edinburgh who recently visited Edinburgh‘s Wave Club.

‘Hard-edged techno may not be everyone‘s cup of tea but Wave is one of those rare clubs where it‘s worth ignoring the music policy and going to experience the atmosphere alone. It's less packed than Friday‘s Pure but there‘s more room to dance. No wonder there are so many wide-eyed smiles! Celebrate.‘

To win yourself a similar prize simply send a club review to The List. 14 high Street. Edinburgh. Ell] lTE. marking the envelope ‘Bohemia Beer Comp‘ and making sure it arrives no later than the Friday before the next publication date.
