Designed by (‘harles Rennie Mackintosh and now home to archive material on education in Scotland from 1872 onwards. Reconstructed classrooms give a flavour of Victorian. Edwardian. Second World War and 1960s schooldays. Activities for children include a collection ofold games which can be hired for 50p and played with in the school's playground.

SirWilliam Gillies (1898-1973) Until Fri 6 Sept. A major retrospective of one ofthe most influential Scottish artists this century. Together with Anne Redpath and Sir William McTaggart. Gillies spearheaded the talented group of painters known as the Edinburgh School. He exhibited more than 3000 paintings in his lifetime. This collection is of watercolours — Gillies‘ oil paintings are on show at The Scottish Gallery.
