I Perspex White Out (‘aiton Studios. Calton Road. 556 7066. Not on the main stage but upstairs. although they could well be graduating to larger stages soon. One of Glasgow‘s most exciting up-and-coming bands. Perspex White Out (absolutely not to be confused with the unrelated Whiteout) play it slow and grungey — with the emphasis on slow.

Kith And Kin don't flit around between styles as much as they try to cram them together— and that doesn‘t just mean the self-explanatory ‘Cajun Skank‘. There are also some roots-flavoured rock songs with strong mainstream appeal to consider as well.

I The Thanes Trader Vic's. Victoria Street. 225 6569. Almost an institution. certainly the centre around which the whole Edinburgh 60s-punk garage-beat scene revolves. More vinyl soon?

I Dr Brown Preservation Hall, Victoria Street. 226 3816. £1 after 9pm. The self-confessed ‘hairiest band in Portsmouth‘ have the honour of making the top ten of the Italian independent charts with their unreconstructed beardie rock. Heavy Hendrix influence. and some sweet passages where the guitars pull back and let the harmonica do the talking.

Glenrothes
I Seeing Red and Roy 8. Blv Coasters Arena. 9.30pm. £3.50. Edinburgh rock band. already familiar from theirjingles on Mike Sword‘s ‘Edinburgh Rock‘ show. promote their debut single. ‘Angel‘.
