The Buzzeocks may be pushing pension age but they‘re still capable ofachieving some mighty fine combinations of melody and noise (or at least reminding you they once were. with a back catalogue re-run lesser bands would kill for).

Glasgow Poly ‘s end-of-term bonanza. with carousing permitted until 7am. Those who missed out on T. EC. 's two shows at King Tut‘s had better catch the grungey ones now. as they’re waltzing straight past Glasgow on their July tour. Staticare three fragile-looking souls who unleash a mighty racket of a piece with many ‘post-Valentine‘ (cough) bands. which makes them a pretty fine proposition for
discerning indie kids. Hideous Thing and Raison D‘étre play acoustic sets in the downstairs bar.

Clean-living funk-driven rock band who‘ve succeeded in selling out two major Glasgow shows and have a cluster of defaced posters as their reward. Don’t drink. don‘t smoke. what do they do‘.’ Meditate before they go onstage apparently.
I Worldwide Crash. Cotton Club. Scott Street. 332 (1712. 10pm. £3. Following up their jolly folky acoustic support to Buddha Grass Harbour. Worldwide return to the Cotton Club for a bit ofthe real thing— jolly. electric rock and. hey. it's sort of folk-influenced too!

As well as supporting our Rod at Parkhead. the Kevin McDermott Orchestra also recently played the Grand 01‘ Opry again as a benefit for the Music In Scotland Trust. And to further prove what caring chaps they are. this current extensive Scottish tour takes them to the gig-deprived Highland regions too.

Everyone's favourite juvenile gibberers mark the release of their new single 'Comc Clean‘ with some more hilarious live shenanigans. Aberdeen's The Loveless (APB in a previous life) return from their Stateside foray as support.

The saga of Zulu Sy ndicate continues. Reports now suggest that Professor Griff's management learn feel that I‘lorida is just a bit too farawaon

manage the Zulus with the attention they deserve. but they all love each other very much anyway.
I Seeing Bed Madison's. Greenside Place. 557 3807. 9pm—3am. £3. Band onstage midnight. Rockers just back from playing the Hi! The WrireNore competition at the Marquee organised by Radio One. Polydor Records and Our Price. and recording their debut single in Berkshire with studio time sandwiched between The Farm and Chesney llawkes. I Sam Harlet and The Flat Stanley Moray House Student Union. Holyrood Road. 556 8455. £2. Sam Harlet have been building up their live following from the Basin Street scene with pretty constant gigging. Their schizophrenic new demo veers from folk-influenced rock tunes somewhat reminiscent ofThe Bluebells to Kitchens ()f Distinction-like echo-guitar pieces. Weird. Ayr blues band The Flat Stanley support.

I The Humplt Family and Blue October Strathclyde University Union. John Street. 552 1895. 9pm. £3. Studentsand guests. Strathclyde University ends its session with two suitably infectious bands. The Ilumpff Family are already well loved for their mad cajun pastiche. maintaining that theirs is true dance music. Blue October play more pedestrian synth pop but their enthusiasm is catching.
I A Chocolate Morning and The Barllies KingTut‘s Wah Wah Hut. St Vincent Street. 221 5279. 9pm. £3.50. A Chocolate Morning like their indie music good and powerful. with a set that builds loan impressive crescendo. Their debut IiP. ll’asled. is out now on Glasgow‘s new Still label. The Barflies favour strummy indie pop. and with the demise of local glam rockers Barfly should no longer be subject to any embarrassing confusion.
