In 1931 “City Lights” had its British Premiere in London. Its star and director, Charlie Chaplin. sat through it wedged between George Bernard Shaw and Lady Astor. This was his first film to use synchronised sound and the first to use Chaplin’s own score, he was

understandably nervous . . . . . . The audience loved it and so did the critics.
In at The Scottish Proms. City Lights will receive its Scottish Premiere. Screened to the accompaniment of a full symphony orchestra and conducted by Carl Davis who was responsible for restoring Chaplin's original score.
City Lights is supported by “How To Make Movies” and “Kids Auto Races. Venice" both unique short films on loan from the Chaplin Archive in Switzerland.
