There are several events taking place in Glasgow thatare not otllcially part ol Maylest and these are listed in the usual sections throughout the magazine.
RIDAY 17
Theatre
I Revolting Peasants King’s Theatre. 7.30pm. £8—£3.50 (£4—£2). Una McLean and Russell Hunter star in the first Scottish production of Patrick Prior‘s anti-Poll Tax comedy. Gerard Kelly directs for 7:84. I Man and Superman Citizens‘ Theatre. 7.30pm. £5 (£1/Free). George Bernard Shaw's philosophical comedy turns the story of Don Juan on its head, as his freethinking hero is pursued by the irrepressible Ann Whitefield without him realising. Funny in places. baffling in others. See review. I Glad Arches Theatre. 7.30pm. £6 (£3). The down-and-outs from Edinburgh‘s Grassmarket fight back in the universally praised play about their lives. I The Noise and Smoky Breath Show Arches Theatre. 9.45pm. £5 (£2.50). This excellent show has been doing the rounds since Christmas to great acclaim. A celebration ofGlasgow through some of its most accessible and witty poets. I Skylark Third Eye Centre. 7.30pm. £5 (£3). Annie Griffin returns to Glasgow after last year‘s entertainingAriadne, with a new company called Pirate Productions and a show about our celluloid fantasies. See preview. I Serious Money New Athenacum, RSAMD. 7.15pm. £3 (£1.50). The Caryl Churchill play that was a great hit amongthe money men of London is revived by Academy students. I Tverboul Tramway. 8pm. £6 (£3). Delightful, wordless Soviet production Recommended.
I Talking Heads Third Eye Centre. 9.30pm. £5 (£3). Double bill of streetwise Stateside poet. La Loca, and streetwise Glasgow patter-merchant Tom Leonard. Should be good. I Punch and Judy and Femme Fatale Mitchell Theatre. 7.30pm. £6 (£3). Snarling Beasties return to Scotland with the shows that have earned them awards in the last two Edinburgh Fringes. The first is a disturbing battle of the sexes, the second is a passionate story ofa transvestite. Recommended.
I The Real World Tron Theatre. 7.30pm. £5.50 (£3). First Michel Tremblay production of the evening at the Tron - this one’s about a self-righteous playwright who irritates his family by turning them into fiction. See review.
I Hosanna Tron Theatre. 10.15pm. £5 (£2.50). Second helping ofMichel Tremblay translated for Scottish cars by the Tron. The love and loneliness of a drag queen and his leather-clad boyfriend.
Music
I Ceilidh Henry Wood Hall. 9pm. £5 (£2.50). Irish night has dancing to the St Roch‘s Irish Ceilidh Band, demonstration step dancing. and songs from Meg Davies.
Cabaret/Comedy
I Second City Moir Hall. 8pm and 11.30pm. £6 (£3). Chicago‘s hottest young comics visit Europe for the first time with a show specially written for Mayfest. Your chance to see the John Belushisof tomorrow.
I Stu Who? and Lynn Ferguson Old Athenacum Theatre. 7.30pm. £6 (£3). The hardest-working pair of shades in the West Coast comedy scene joins forces with Alexander Sister. Lynn Ferguson.

I The Blues Band Pavilion Theatre. 8pm. £7/£6 (£3.50/£3). Some call them the greatest British purveyors of R&B, and they've been together long enough to merit the title. Tom McGuinness, Dave Kelly, Gary Fletcher, Rob Townsend and living and breathing TV star Paul Jones return to Mayfest.
I Boys ol the Lough City Hall. 8pm. £6 (£3). Do you know the story about the Englishman, the Irishmen and the Scotsman? Well, Aly Bain is a Shetlander, so he's only halfa Scot. They’re all in this famous. far-travelled traditional music institution.
I The Everly Brothers and Duane Eddy Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. 7.30pm. £15-£9.50. An interesting coupling of two acts who changed the face of rock‘n’roll. vocally and instrumentally. There‘s always an urgent feeling in Everlys shows that this might be the last chance to see them before Don and Phil have another decade-long bust-up, too.
