However. some promising ideas are shunted to the sidelines by Douglas’s sour and rather uninspiring heroics as the New York cop sent to Osaka to counter a counterfeiting ring. Kovic‘s plight is rendered symbolic of state-of-the-nation dismay. and Cruise brings an unprecendented degree of integrity to the part. giving easily his best performance to date.
