‘Welcome to my forest’ says David Bellamy, but, as he explains, he really means ‘our forest‘ because wherever you live in Britain, the Forestry
Commission are ‘minding’ a forest for all of us. To help children find out more about plant, tree and animal life in a forest, and to appreciate just what it means to have healthy forests, the Forestry Commission have published a glossy twelve-page colour magazine for 5—10 year-olds, with David Bellamy suggesting things to do- how to make a wooden xylophone forexample—and packing in a lot of useful information, charts and diagrams accompanied by photographs and drawings. It‘s cheerful, and cheap— only 20p. Welcome To My Forest is published by the Forestry Commission, 231 Corstrophine Road, Edinburgh. Copies available at Forestry Commission District Offices, Visitor Centres and Forest Shops.
