Glasgow Girls: Women in Art and Design in Glasgow 1880-1920 Until 21 Oct. A major retrospective exhibition which aims to set the record straight on behalf of the many women associated with the avant garde art and design movement now referred to as ‘The Glasgow Style‘ and associated almost exclusively with Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Over 30 graduates of the Glasgow School of Art are represented. including Jessie Newbery. Margaret and Frances Macdonaid and Jessie M. King. Francis Place: A Changing Vision ot Nature Until 14 Oct. First showing of prints and recently discovered drawings by this late 17th century virtuoso.
Contemporary Art season: Jack Knox Until 30 Sept. The latest artist to be featured in Kelvingrove‘s season of contemporary artists with strong Glasgow links. Contemporary Art Season: Duncan Shanks 5—28 Oct. Airdrie-born Shanks uses thick brushstrokes and vibrant colour to explore the Clyde Valley landscape and the changing Scottish weather.
The Eclectic Spirit: imogen Cunningham 5 Oct-2 Dec. The first-ever UK exhibition by this pioneering American photographer, whose work spanned several major developments in the medium, moving from pre-Raphaelism through modernism to multiple—exposure work.
