RADIO DAZE

Mark Curry
Do you roll out of bed then loll in front of the television on a Saturday morning? Yes? Well now there's an alternative — come alive with Radio 5! On Your Marks, presented by Mark Curry, is a live three-hour show, from 9am until
noon, aimed at children up to fourteen.
It‘s a case of don‘t just listen, join in, with something to interest everyone, from music requests to quiz games
where young listeners will have a chance to win a prize in a variety of competitions including whodunits and ‘Creepy Castles’, a play-your-own-fate game. For whose who have something to say, Platform Five is the soap-box slot of the morning. If you fancy yourself as a young David Frost, On Your Marks gives you a chance to ask the questions and would-be Rustie Lees are catered for in Curry in the Kitchen. So next Saturday morning,
. throw off the duvet and dive for 5.
0n Thursdays, young Radio Scotland listeners have a chance to hear another magazine-style programme — Check This! which goes out from 11 .40am until noon (from 19 September) for 9—1 2 year-olds. Grant Stott (brother of Blue Peter's John Leslie) and Aileen Scott present a lively mixture of news, reviews, competitions, current affairs, jokes and music. Environmental issues are highlighted —The Big Competition which runs throughout the series, asks listeners to design and make a collage on the theme of recycling, using recycled litter. You don't have to be sitting in the classroom to listen in, you could, for example, be confined to bed with a nasty dose of the flu and still enjoy it. Radio listening is so easy, you can do it with your eyes closed. (Rene Taylor)
