EDINBURGH Fridays

I Bealhox Teviot Debating Hall 9pm—2am. (Students and Guests only.) FREE. Pseudo-trendy student disco playing the kind of slick. soul-boy fare that appeals to Edinburgh‘s sideburned fraternity. Downstairs however, in the intimate surroundings of the Park Room. another (better) club takes

place, featuring the relentless pulse of indie dance crossover.

I Dream The Mission. llpm—3am. £3 (£1 admission tickets circulating). Now a Slam-free zone, but all the better for it. I Floral Riot Network. 2 10.30pm—4am. £2. Experience an indie explosion ofsonic flower grooves at what is currently Edinburgh's busiest club. From Primal Scream to The Pastels, from The Smiths to The Stone Roses. a carefully considered playlist is ensuring a packed dancefloor. I Green Banana Club Potterrow.

8pm— 1 am. Students 50p with matric card. guests£l. A ‘stimulating’ student night, playing alternative indie thrash. Not for the faint-hearted or discerning Clubber. though if hard core goth is your scene. .. Look out for live bands too.

I U.F.O The Venue. 12pm—4am. £2. Ok, so we haven‘t rated this very highly in the past. But it seems to be gettingbetter. Upfront cuts ranging from indie dance to house to techno, with a Euro/US hardcore influence. Hyper-bass. sound effects and sampling.

I Marleys Shady Lady‘s. 10.30pm—3am. £2. Living up to its name the club plays mostly MOR reggae to a mostly older crowd. A smaller crowd too, oflate, though with the supposed upsurge in popularity of this kind of music you never know what might happen.
