The first stage adaptation of the novel by Vincente Blasco Ibanez has been scripted by Peter Granger-Taylor who also appears in Jon Pope's production. An early film version of the book was a hit for Rudolf Valentino and was subsequently remade in 1960. A playboy becomes involved in war against his will. but is made a hero nonetheless. See Review.

Masks and Puppets trom the Caricature Theatre Collection Until 28 Mar. £1 (50p). Splendid and varied display of puppets from Cardiff‘s now defunct Caricature

Theatre. The greatest shame is that the puppets are not being put to their intended use.
