Strathclyde: UCI Cl) debank. I Kenneth Anger Season: Programmes 2 a 3 A celebration of the work of the notorious underground film-maker. Who. according to an interview in the last issue of The List regards most of the stories that you may have heard about him as true, which is strange as there are some pretty wierd stories about him. The programme brings together some of his ritualistic imaginative and influential films. Programme 2 includes Scorpio Rising part of the never finished Pace Moment as well as a couple of Bruce Baillie shorts. Programme 3 has Georges Melies‘ Trip to the Moon, Anger's own Rabbit’s Moon and In vocation of my Demon Brother as well as extracts from Jarman's The Lastof England. Edinburgh: Filmhouse. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Thomas F. Wilson. 108 mins. Finishing with a big tease sequence of highlights for the mid- 1990 scheduled Back to the Future Part3, this could be the longest movie trailer in
Hollywood history. Once again Michael has to outfox Biff. this time zooming forwards as well as backwards in the time machine. Directed and played with terrific verve. BTF2 moves so fast from one set-piece to the next that there's no time to reflect on the basic ridiculousness of the plot. Glasgow: Cannon The Forge. Cannon Sauchiehall Street. Strathclyde: UCI Clydebank. UCI East Kilbride.

The two women rc-invent themselves through their friendship, and transform the place into the bargain. Adlon displays a warm and charming sympathy with the quirks of his oddball but convincing characters, and shapes a beguiling tale from the most basic of materials. Glasgow: GF’I‘. Edinburgh: Filmhouse.
I Datman (Tim Burton, US, 1989)Jack Nicholson, Michael Keaton, Kim Bassinger. 120 mins. In which Burton achieves the impossible by creating a product which lives up to possibly the biggest hype job this century. Nicholson is on top form: psychotic. witty and zanier than ever; but the real triumph is Keaton‘s. With less screen time than the Great Upstager, he produces a performance of memorable subtlety and power, which gives a new credibility to the Bruce Wayne/Batman character, while remaining true to the comic strip. With eerie angular design by Anton Furst, a terrific score by Danny Elfman, a suitably wacky script and a strong supporting cast. Strathclyde: UCI East Kilbride.
I The Bear (PG) (Jean-Jacques Annaud, France. 1988) Bart, Douce, Jack Wallace, Tcheky Karyo. 98 mins. Simple, unscntimental narrative follows the experiences of two bears, a big adult kodiak and a young orphan cub, as they are pursued by two hunters. Cleverly filmed to capture the bears acting naturally, this insightful record of their point of view makes a moving plea for the decent treatment of all animals and is highly entertaining as it goes about it. Distinguished American architect Stourley Kracklite arrives in Rome to mount an exhibition in memory of his 18th century predecessor Etienne Louis Boulce. I Les Riches (15) (Claude Chabrol, France/Italy, 1968) Jean-Louis Trintignant, Stephane Audran, Jacqueline Sassard. 99 mins. An architect falls in love with both halves of a lesbian couple , but the emotional cruelties which result bring about horror and despair.
