Factory. Swing High Fashion. Cafe Coste.
The City Cafe and The Penguin Cafe to donate various bits and pieces. which will all be raffled off. The money raised in the raffle will be given to Friends of the Earth. plus a percentage of the door takings will be added. DJs from the Spanish Harlem. the chance for Edinburgh‘s fashion conscious to be Earth conscious. Tickets can be obtained from the above mentioned shops.
I Spanish Harlem (‘alton Studios. 10pm—4am. £7. 31 Dec only. The l Iarlem posse take over this venue. for what they have billed as ‘The Rave of the Decade'. In the main room there will be a 6k turbo sound system. backed up by a 4k Martin rig. with DJ Yogi. the Harlem DJs David plus Colin and MCJuanito. 16mm film projections. the Harlem posse in full effect. the banners. the eamo nets. Room 2 is being called ‘The Chill Out Jazz Room' with Jazz DJ-ing from Bradford's DJ Chris Thomas. Go down early. take your whistles. make lots ofnoise and enjoy the rave.

Lovers rock and some massive Dub. Papa Zeb I has been around the Edinburgh club scene for a while ‘toasting‘ in various clubs. so it’s good to
see him behind the decks of his own cluh.a
pumping bass. sampling to full effect and using the 4k PA to its best. Strictly bubbhng.

I Breathless Potterrow. 8pm— lam. Students £1 .50 guest 50p with matric card. Since the last review. Breathless has managed not just to draw a good crowd but also to encompass more up-to-date club sounds. playing tracks from groups such as NWA. Dela Soul and Lisa
Stanfield. making this student club one of the best of its kind. Maybe the fact that they have the cheapest bar prices in town has something to do with Breathless not losing its identity ofalso being fun.
I The Deep The Mission. 10.30pm—3am. £2. For a club whose playlist hasa reputation for being one of the best around. it‘s a shame that the Edinburgh elubgoers don't seem to support it more. The Deep is one ofthe best elubsin Edinburgh during the week. so godown there and have a rave!

I Chateaux Cha Cha Wilkie House. 10.30pm—3am. £2.50. A club whose aim is to bring the best ofthe gaylstraight club scene together under one groove. Roxy‘s efforts seem to have succeeded — it was designer gear a go—go. from Richmond to Westwood. Look out for the Flag Sisters and move to the sounds ofthe Dreadnought Hi-Fi Sound system.
I The Egg Club Network 2. 10.30pm—3am. £1 .50 with ticket. Edinburgh has a thing about ‘Indie' dance clubs. so when you are handed a leaflet with the names ofthe bands this club will be playing — Happy Mondays. 808 State. Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine — to name but a few. you will probably begin to cringe! I‘m told by the organisers Graham Brodie and Alan Hunter. that they have enlisted the help from a well-known Edinburgh Graffiti team — The Fallen Angels— to dotheir backdrops. Their work must be better than the leaflets. still. three clubs happening on a Thursday night.
