I The Men They Couldn't Hang (‘alton Studios. Calton Road. 556 7066. English folk rockers who never quite had the songwriting skills to make it to the Pogues‘ level. and their records always sounded a little feeble. However. stirring anthems like lronmasters take on a whole different dimension performed live.

Recent releases have not been up to the standard of favourites like ‘Fiery Jack' or ‘iiow 1 Wrote Elastic Man‘. Now signed to Phonogram. with a changed line up. it will be intriguing tosee what direction they will follow in the Nineties. Students and guests.
