The summer exhibition pays tribute to the remarkable achievements of 19th century French printmakers who reflected their compatriots‘ leading role in the field of painting. The exhibits are drawn entirely from the Hunterian's own collection and feature some of the most innovative artists of the day; Toulouse-Lautrec, Pissaro. Degas and Gaugin.

S. l. Witltiewicz: Photographs 2 Sept—7 Oct. The first exhibition outside his native country is to commemorate the 50th anniversary ofthe death of this unusual Pole. whose exploits include playwriting, painting. dabbling in hallucinogenic drugs and demonology as well as his photography. The photographs exhibited here range from his early landscapes ofthe Tatra Mountains to his later staged scenarios taken in the 1920s and 30s. Through Photography 2 Sept—7 Oct. A quintet of artists working in Scotland who all use photography in an experimental manner. The photographers featured here are Oladele Bamgboye. Lorna Bates. Matthew Dalziel. Brian Jenkins and Vaughan Judge.

Reversal of Slogans Until 31 August. An open exhibition organised as part ofthe Festival of Plagiarism Artists are invited to submit work that subverts the images normally associated with advertising slogans. The Festival itself ran from 4—11 August and was designed to show up blind adoration of art and what the organisers see as the purely financial interests of many in the art world.

Slide library and information about how to commission work, Two German Artists Until 25 August. liubertus lless is known for his 3-dimcnsional installations which incorporate granite. steel and iron. and he is currently searching the Scottish countryside for suitable material. Christian Rothman the other artist on show has recently been amassing prizes for his murals and designs in Germany. Here he exhibits some of his abstract screen prints and paintings.
Andrea Kuster and Toni Wirthmueller 28 Aug--l8 Sept. Andrea will be displaying images from her recent travels around Scotland on the theme ofour landscapes and religous architecture. Whilst Toni's prints and paintings involve romantic imagery and abstract landscapes.
