Streatbiz Final event in the summer activities is the Carnival Parade. Glasgow Playschemes and Emergency Exit Arts have been working towards this in their summer activities but all children are welcome. Dress up in carnival clothes and join the parade at Buchanan Street at 3pm. Sat 5 Aug. The theme is ‘Get on board the gravy train‘. The procession will wind through Glasgow. music provided by the band Crocodile Style. to the grand finale in George Square at 3.45pm where Emergency Exit Arts have some surprises in store. Tired oi ‘winner spots the most three wheeled BMWs’ on the motorway? Then try slotting in a talking book. Tempo have added seven Roald Dahl stories to their list in double packs, each lasting around three hours. To test them i gave a nine year-old Dahl-ek Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The BFG. His mother banned the Walkman at meal and bath times as he worked his way through all iourtapes. She thinks he liked them.
Tapes make stories like Dahl's accessible to younger children who can't yet read the books — it older brothers and sisters don’t hog the tapes. They're also handy when you’re not up to reading orwatching

For Dahl tans: there are two productions of Dahl stories on the Fringe both showing at Tic Too (Little Marco’s). Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is performed by Rob Inglis, and Trick or Treat present James and the Giant Peach. The man himseli, Boald Dahl pertorms the opening ceremony at the Edinburgh Book Festival and later gives a reading from his latest book, Matilda, the story of a girl whose lather thinks she reads too much.
