Traditionally the under-18s' lot as regards clubs has been a meagre one. Herded around like cattle, bombarded by useless chart music, queuing tor over-priced soil drinks, the possibility of a gruelling ‘slow dance’ at the end of the nightand . . . Bang! You’re out cold before the ‘adults’ come in and spend some real money.
Ram Jam on Tuesdays at the Venue, however, seeks to break the mould by offering a cohesive club identity and an unpatronising music policy. DJs Rory and Paul present mostly hip hop, deep house and hip house to a receptive crowd with attendances increasing weekly. An enthusiastic, unpretentious atmosphere reigns bolstered by the use or videos and various effects. Live acts are in the pipeline so it you’ve yet to ‘come of age' and are tired of the same old rituals go and investigate. (Andy Crabb)

Factory, hear one of Glasgow’s best DJs and three of Britain's best new bands. (The Kitchens of Distinction, King of the Slums and AC Acoustics). Stuart Murdoch’s Wasp Factory has come along way since his ‘Oor Wullie’ beginnings and after this coup there‘ll be lorthcoming gigs by Megacity 4 and Dub Sex.
Stuart's musical policy knows no boundaries (I mean, how many DJs do you know that play hardcore next to hip-hop?!) Ratherthan have the standard Top to playlist, I‘ll let him give you an idea of what’s in store. (Colin Steven)
