SPORT LIST
ACKING OFF Since its inception in 1975, the Scottish Series, organised by the Clyde Cruising Club and now sponsored by McEwan’s, has gradually made its way towards the top of the British yachting calender. Thus far it is second only to Cowes Week, and when over 200 yachts, with some 2000 crew, make their way for Tarbert, on Loch Fyne, there will no doubt be a pretty taithlul reproduction ot the well-known festivities that take place on the Isle ot Wight every summer. Ten classes 01 vessel will compete in live races during the event, but perhaps most of the casual interest will be centred on three particular
boats, these being Drum, Helizara and With Integrity. Formerly known as GB It, With Integrity is scheduled to compete in the Whitbread Round-the-World Cup, and indeed has already circumnavigated the globe on three previous occasions. Drum and Helizara are no less capable, though they are probably better known through their previous owners, Simon Le Bon oi Duran Duran and Herbert Von Karajan. Whilst Le Son is set to co-skipper Drum iorthe McEwan’s Maxi Cup, there is not even a rumour to suggest that Von Karajan will charter Helizara from current owner, Peter Raite. (Mike Wilson)
perform creditably against opposition from the lower divisions of the Royal Bank National Leagues. Indeed. Kelly's first foray in Division 4 resulted in them losing just one of their 16gamesand winning the title by a clear four points.
