SIMPLE MINDS TO PLAY MURRAYFIELD
Scotland‘s biggest rock band have lined up three 1989 dates in their home
country, reports Alastair Mabbott.
The announcement that Simple Minds have lined up two dates in Glasgow's SECC. on 8 and 9 August. has been quickly followed by the news of a gig at Edinburgh‘s Murrayfield stadium on 12 August. It is. oddly. the first time that the band have played in Edinburgh for more than five years.
This marks the first time that Murrayfield has been used as a rock venue since U2 played there in 1987. although unfounded rumours about Michael Jackson and Bob Dylan spread last year (appropriately. Regular are putting Dylan on at the SECC in June). Despite the toilet . facilities that particularly annoyed . ' many female ticket-holders. I y, Murrayfield has a reputation to uphold.
