SWAN LAKE
Natalia Makarova may have been one of the greatest Swan Dueens oi all time, but her staging ior London Festival Ballet is strangely botched ior someone who has spent a Iiietime inside Tchaikovsky’s Tragedy. Going alter essences, Makarova has untortunately stripped away all the flavour surrounding the central story. The splashy third act has been truncated and. even worse, the sublime second act unaccountably tiddled with. A major disappointment. (Donald Hutera)
