CLUB SANDINO
A dream come true . . .linally! Club Sandino responds to Nightlile's plea tor a Latin and Jazz club and open their doors to Red Clydeside on Friday 24 February upstairs at Tin Pan Alley. It will appearthere at the end of every month thereafter.
Not belore time too. For tar too long we’ve had to suffer phoney soul and look clubs (who shall remain nameless of course!) but now we’ve got the chance to hear the pure sounds of Latin/JazzJSoul/Salso/Rare Groove/African in Glasgow. However, Club Sandino have 'spread the musical gospel through London, Dublin, Nottingham, Bristol, Brighton, Shellield, Manchesterand Edinburgh belore they decided to purge our souls!
The opening night will have Nick Peacock and Gordon Watson on the turntables, but in the coming months there will be a whole host at specialist OJ's (mainly from the more established Edinburgh Club). The success Sandino have had in every other city will surely be repeated in Glasgow and it will undoubtedly be the highlight of the month lorthe politically aware and your average clubber. £3 (£2 lor unemployed) isn’t asking too much to support the Nicaraguan Sandinlstas in their struggle against the American backed Contras. How can you not have a good time, just look at the playlist. . . (Colin Steven)
