Following several sell-outs at St Cecilia’s Hall last season, Edinburgh’s Georgian Concert Society is moving to the bigger venue of Greytriars Church for its most important guests this season, the Tallis Scholars. Internationally acclaimed, the Scholars’ programme includes the Josquin Mass La sol ta re mi, which brought them Gramophone’s Record of

the Year award in 1987. Also, there's Allegri’s beautiful Miserere, allegedly written down by the 14 year-old Mozart after just one hearing at that time it was so greatly treasured by the Sistine Chapel that copying it out was a crime resulting in instant excommunication. (Carol Main)
