AKADEMIA RUCHU
For the past fifteen years Akademia Ruchu has been one of Poland’s best-known alternative theatre groups. The company's name means ‘Academy of Movement' and their productions use movement and visually striking performance to highlight moments of conflict and crisis and so reveal aspects of life in Poland.
The company bring three
performances to Glasgow's Third Eye Centre as part of the Polish Realities season: ‘Everyday Life after the French Bevolution', illustrating how life can be constrained, ratherthan liberated. by revolution; ‘Carthage‘, presenting a vivid image of people assaulting the restrictions on their life and ‘English Lesson', (see photo), using the structure of a foreign language class to explore limits on expression.
