A POST-CHRISTMAS A

Those hoping for an invigorating break atterthe ritual festive pig-out, or planning an escape Irom the cretinous relations who turn up every Christmas, could do worse than book a place on one of the winter courses at Glenmore Lodge, the Scottish Sports Council’s National Outdoor Training Centre.

Courses on otter range from the relative ease ot Winter Hillwalking, for which the only requirement is moderate titness, to Couloir Ski-ing, which teaches how to descend steep oft-piste slopes, and demands advanced skiing experience and a total absence ol the sell-preservation instinct. Alpine and Nordic Ski Mountaineering, Snow, Ice and Buttress Climbing, and an Avalanche course are just some at the other ophons.

I Motherwell v Hamilton Fir Park. Motherwell (All Motherwell buses pass ground). 3pm. A crucial match for both sides: a defeat here for Hamilton would leave them all but relegated. while a win would put them within a point or two of Motherwell.
