. over the next busy fortnight. Ireland’s
leading contemporary Iolk singer, known the world over in the group context or Planxty, is a seasoned solo performer, with a large Scottish following. Christy Moore plays Glasgow's Pavilion 14th, and Edinburgh's Playhouse 15th.
Scotland's Incredible String Band were one of the most inlluential and innovative groups to emerge during the 605, due in the most part to Robin Williamson's eclectic musical ear and way with a lyric. His one man show, of songs, stories and poetry, strongly leaturing the harp, is in Edinburgh on the 14th.
Big Joe Duskin is a mesmerlsing blues and boogie piano stylist and singer. He plays two nights, 15th and 16th at Paisley Arts Centre in the company of authentic English bluesman Dave Peabody, and takes part in the great Edinburgh blues night on the 14th. See jazz panel.
There is even a weekend lollt lestival, hosted by the Penicuik Club, with the expected kid's shows, crafts, concerts, ceilidhs and singarounds. Less than half an hours drive from Edinburgh. Full details in the Listings.
South American music is represented by two contrasting groups. Awatinas have been here belore and give a colourlul costumed display or different aspects of Bolivian music and dance, the stringed instruments giving an underfoon the llutey quenas and pan pipes. In Edinburgh you can see them

The Peruvian trio who arrive in Edinburgh’s Dueen‘s Hall on the 21 st, have been brought overto play the major World Circuit lestival based in London. Amaru De Tinta comprises Julio Benavente Diaz, a spry septagenuarian, and a legendary Iingerpicking charangist, with David Fuentes on guitar and vocals and a second virtuoso charango player Ernesto Valdez Chacon. Their mestizo music, played on those tiny guitar shaped clear sounding instruments, is the sophisticated music of the non-rural and non-white European culture. Also on the programme are Edinburgh's Picts, the band brought together by singer Rod Paterson for his second album. They wield a rich diversity of sound textures in a Scottish reed-bed ol saxophones, clarinet, and bagpipes oldillerentsizes.
