I Win Venue. Calton Road. 557 3073. Win know all about chequered careers. but their deal with Virgin has given them another chance. and the impending re-release of ‘You've Got the Power' will at last give them a hit. Unless. that is. Scottish record-buyers are fed up with the song they're so familiar with from the McEwans ads. We‘ll find out in time. This is just a low-key tour. with no record to promote until at least November.
I The Alice House and The Ran Tan Plan College of Art. Lauriston Place. 229 1442. Students and guests only. Word says that the Alice House are the next beneficiaries of the McEwans big-budget commercial. The Ram Tan Plan. an art college group. haven't yet been approached.

Last year‘s Motherwell Music Festival was co-headlined by Deacon Blue and The Proclaimers. both of whom have moved on to greater things. and thisyear's bill is a worthy follow-up. The Big Dish‘s last single so nearly became a big hit . and they're bound to become household names ere long. Goodbye Mr Mackenzie may take the harder path. but they've got it all ahead of them.
I The Bible and The River Detectives Rooftops. 92 Sauchiehall Street. 332 5883. 10pm. The addition of the River Detectives makes this an extremely attractive bill. I Rapeman. Dinosaur Jr and The Band at Susans Venue. Calton Road. 557 3073.
