Ten years after his death, Scottish Television broadcast a unique tribhte to the great Scottish poet, Hugh MacDiarmid, compiled by his son, Mike Grieve.
Scottish celebrates MacDiarmid on Monday August 22nd with:

In Verse In 1988 Scottish Television has produced 30 hours of readings and interviews with Scotland’s best poets. In Verse is a unique and massive commitment to create a television anthology of contemporary Scottish poetry. By broadcasting the readings and interviews in 3-hour segments, Scottish has made available for recording, areas of Scottish culture previously only accessible to small groups.
Gaelic poetry has been well served through major interviews with Somhairle MacGill-Eain and Iain Crichton Smith and readings from ten Gaelic poets.
